Donny van de Beek’s father has described Manchester United as a ‘beautiful club’ as the Ajax midfielder undergoes a medical ahead of his move to Old Trafford.

United have now agreed a £40.3 million fee with Ajax for the 23-year-old, who is set to become Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first signing of the summer.

Van de Beek met up with his Netherlands teammates on Monday but did not take part in the afternoon training session as he was required to have medical tests ahead of his switch to United.

And the midfielder’s father is buoyed by his son’s decision to make the move to Old Trafford.

‘This is a dream come true’ - Andre van de Beek told Omroep Gelderland.

‘Our local village is very proud.

‘It’s the perfect moment for him to make this step to such a beautiful club, but Ajax will always remain in our heart.

A lot of clubs were interested, but Donny took this decision himself.

Van de Beek’s father also revealed that the family have already been on a trip to Manchester.

‘We looked around there. It’s beautiful,’ he said.
