Fayose Makes U-Turn: Governor Makinde Is My Leader, Father


Former Ekiti Governor Ayo Fayose has declared Oyo Governor, Seyi Makinde as chief of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) within the South-West.


Speaking on the Wocdiff Centre, Osogbo, venue of the Zonal Congress of the Peoples Democratic Party, Fayose additionally apologised to members of the party not in his faction for all they have all gone through over the years.


When the previous governor entered the venue, he went instantly to wherein Makinde sat and greeted him. Both of them had a heat hug.


"The Governor of Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde, my brother, my friend and through the grace of God, our chief. I and Seyi Makinde are one from the beginning.


"Even though (Taofeek) Arapaja has abused me so much, I'll be the first individual to go to him in Ibadan. Nobody has offended me and if I even have offended anybody, I without a doubt apologise. Seyi Makinde stays our father come what may," he said.


Makinde and Fayose had engaged in verbal wars over the manage of the PDP structures, particularly the management of the party within the region.


The face-off became in addition annoyed through the re-election bid of the instant beyond national vice-chairman of the South-West PDP, Chief Eddy Olafeso. 


But, the camp of Makinde encouraged a former deputy governor of Oyo State, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, for the position. 


The sharp war of words among Makinde and Fayose compelled the PDP National Secretariat to transport the venue of the congress from Ibadan, the Oyo State capital to Osogbo, the capital of Osun State. 


While the governor desired Lagos State as a different venue, Fayose desired Ogun State.
