Jose Mourinho dubbed Harry Kane ‘magnificent’ after the Tottenham star scored his 150th Premier League goal.

Kane headed in Matt Doherty’s cross in the 88th minute to secure a crucial 1-0 win over struggling West Brom.

The late winner took Tottenham to the top of the table, temporarily, for the first time in six years.

Kane is thriving under Mourinho having netted 13 goals in just 18 appearances this season.

The Tottenham boss told talkSPORT: “He is the kind of player that even if he doesn’t score goals, he shows how good he is.

“With many, many strikers, everything is about scoring goals and if they don’t, the performance is empty.

“Harry doesn’t have an empty performance because what he does for the team is magnificent.

“If on the top of that he can score a winning goal in the 88th minute that is the perfect scenario.”
Tottenham were playing their second match in three days having travelled back from Bulgaria following a 3-1 win over Ludogorets in the Europa League.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer called the congestive fixture schedule a ‘shambles’ on Saturday.

And Mourinho feels Leicester and Arsenal, who had Europa League home ties on Thursday, should have kicked off before Tottenham this weekend.

He said: “Ole was complaining, and rightfully so, about United playing in Turkey and then 12.30 Saturday.

“We could also complain about playing Thursday in Bulgaria and playing 12 o’clock now.

“I think it would have been more fair if Leicester played 12 o’clock because they played at home in the Europa League or Arsenal to play 12 o’clock and I don’t think it would have changed much in relation to audiences on TV.

“But we gave everything and I don’t think it was a big problem for the boys to cope with it.

“I believe going to the national team at least some of the national coaches will save them from the first match because the first one is a friendly, let’s see.

“The important thing is we got these three very important points.”
